Johny Hendricks vs. Charlie Brenneman Preview: UFC 117
On Saturday, Aug. 7, Johny Hendricks and Charlie Brenneman will square off in a bout at UFC 117. Although on a different type of mat, these two fighters have fought before.
In the past, these fighters were each college wrestlers. They squared off when wrestling at their respective universities. Johny Hendricks was the winner of that particular fight.
These fighters will have a clean slate as they face off, despite their previous matchup at the wrestling tournament. No gloves were present, the last time they fought. Their abilities on the ground and on the mat will be tested in this fight.
To this point, each of these fighters has seen a lot of success. Over their careers, they have a combine 19-1 record and they know how to win fights. In the UFC, Hendricks has fought 3 fights, winning each one of them. By means of TKO, one of his fights was won and the other two by decision. Over the course of his career, he has actually never lost a fight.
To this point, Charlie Brenneman has fought just one fight in his UFC career. He has won all but one fight, in his 13 career fights. Rather than just a wrestler, he has been able to become a great fighter.
It will be intriguing to see if they just end up in a wrestling match as they were in years ago or if this fight turns out to be a UFC fight. Overall, it looks like an evenly matched fight.
