MMA – Profile MMA fighter Rashad Evans

One of the premier fighters in the Mixed Martial arts circuit of today is Rashad Evans. He was born on September 25, 1979 and is originally from Lansing, Michigan.

His professional MMA career began around 2004 where he won five MMA fights under the teachings of Dan Severn. This got him a Spike television reality show and got a gig on the Ultimate Fighter 2.

On April 6, 2006, he fought against Sam Hoger. The fight was won by Evans and he followed it with another victory over Stephen Bonnar on June 28 in 2006.
Next big career milestone for Evans was when he defeated Chuck Liddell in a convincing victory at UFC 88 in 2008.

Evans, in 2008, fought against Forrest Griffin for the UFC light heavyweight title belt. He won the title and was even considered fighter of the year. The glory was lost soon as he lost the belt, after being knocked out by Lyoto Machida

Evans has been on the long road back, ever since that loss to Machida and trying to get his belt back. In UFC 108, he was scheduled to fight Thiago Silva and told that if he could beat him that he would have a chance at taking on Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Evans achieved his Jiu Jitsu black belt that morning and would go on to beat Silva by a unanimous decision.

His fight against Rampage Jackson will be the next challenge for Evans, at UFC 114, on May 29, 2010. As one of the best MMA fighters in the world, he will continue his legacy, if he can beat Jackson.
