Melvin Guillard vs. Waylon Lowe – UFC 114
On May 29th, Melvin Guillard and Waylon Lowe will fight at UFC 114. Against Guillard, Tavares had initially been penciled in to matchup but sustained an injury. This opened to door for Waylon Lowe.
On May 29th, Waylon Lowe will be fighting in his first ever UFC match. Thus far, his professional record is 8-2. Lowe is known for his wrestling skills, but has never been able to make the big stage, failing to make the final cast in his attempt to work onto “The Ultimate Fighter 9.”
Melvin Guillard is a UFC veteran. In the UFC, this will be his 11th match. His career record to date is 23-8-2 with a record of 6-4 in the UFC. As of late, Melvin Guillard has handled the grappling style of fighters very well and is known as a striker. He has won all but one of his last fight matches against fighters that he has been dealt.
Waylon Lowe skills will be put to the test although he is solid, as Guillard is easily the best fighter that he has faced in his career. Against Lowe as he is new to this level of fighting, look for Guillard to come out aggressive. Lowe’s skills will be tested early and often in this match.
For Lowe, Guillard’s experience will be tough to overcome. Lowe will set the pace of the match and will try to bring the fight to the ground early. If Lowe can get Guillard to the ground early, he may be able to take control of the fight.
